Ekali Shares Personal Message About Mental Health

In 2018, more than any other year, mental health has been taking the forefront in the dance community. The tragedy  Avicii‘s death put a spotlight on how we, the fans, treat our favourite artists, and all the trials and tribulations they may go through to deliver us the music we enjoy.

Avicii’s death in particular has affected so many artists and people in general. It’s amazing to see how much his music has affected so many different people. Fellow artists continue to honour him and his music at many festivals and events.

While many artists have spoken up, none have been as consistent on social media as Ekali when it comes to talking about mental health and treating artists like fellow human beings. The sad reality is this: One in four people will face mental health concerns, and unfortunately, musicians are not exempt from this reality.

Yesterday, Ekali opened up even further by sharing his own personal struggles with his very unique mental health issues. He shared the post on Twitter:

2018 has been a wild year, to say the least. Society has literally never been as connected as we are today, yet at the same time, a certain sense disconnection exists. Whether that’s a good or bad thing, that’s up to you. Mental health is no joke, and we need to start talking about it. Messages like Ekali’s are a great reminder that.
