London label and collective Eastern Margins are releasing their second compilation album, ‘Redline Impact’, next month. Have an exclusive first listen to 700 Feel, BAYANG (tha Bushranger) & Nerdie’s contribution ‘NIKE SOLDIER’ below.
Set for release on 16th October, the project unites 23 artists across 13 cities, 9 countries and 4 continents to shine a light on the spectrum of alternative electronic sounds emanating from East & South-East Asia and its diaspora (ESEA). It’s the second chapter in a sonic journey that started with 2021’s ‘Redline Legends’ compilation, and represents a clear refinement of Eastern Margins’ Redline sound, encompassing aural experiments that expand the boundaries of hip hop, pop, electronic, ambient, dance, hyperpop, alt rock and more.
J-pop supergroup PAS TASTA introduced the compilation’s maximalist palette earlier this month with first single, ‘BULLDOZER’, ahead of the rave-ready trance meets pop of ‘U Again’ by CLAIR, featuring dj g2g. The rest of ‘Redline Impact’ is equally playful, swerving from bouncing Filipino Budots on ‘Rave Phai’, courtesy of genre pioneer DJ Love, and trippy breakbeats on gyrofield’s ‘Certain Dreams’, to the indie-tinged rapscapes of ‘NIKE SOLDIER’, penned by Sydney-based producers 700 Feel, BAYANG (tha Bushranger) and Nerdie.
‘Redline Impact’ is set to arrive just a week after Eastern Margins debuts its very own festival at EartH Hackney, Margins United, on 28th September. The 12-hour day and night event will see a selection of artists from the new album perform including gyrofield, LVRA, Shelhiel, MEYY and DJ Love.
‘Redline Impact’ is out 16th October on Eastern Margins. Pre-order the compilation here, and have an exclusive first listen to 700 Feel, BAYANG (tha Bushranger) & Nerdie’s contribution ‘NIKE SOLDIER’ below.
