AlphaTheta launch true wireless DJ headphones HDJ-F10

AlphaTheta — responsible for the Pioneer DJ brand — has launched a new pair of wireless headphones called the HDJ-F10.

The new headphones are completely wireless, connecting to an included SonicLink transmitter that plugs into the headphone port of your DJ mixer, controller, or any other device you want to listen to, and sends the audio signal near-latency-free to the headphones.

While Bluetooth is the most common connection protocol for consumer headphones, it’s unsuitable for DJs due to the latency introduced, meaning your cue feed is out of sync with the music coming out of the speakers. The HDJ-F10 solves that issue, for the first time from AlphaTheta/Pioneer DJ headphones.

Built for the booth, they offer high-volume playback and tight low-end via a 40mm driver. There’s a bass reflex air duct to help keep bass under control and give you an accurate sense of the kick and low end before you bring it in.

The headphones also support traditional Bluetooth mode for listening with smart devices, and noise cancelling mode for using while travelling. The cans also feature a built-in mic for taking calls. The battery life lasts up to nine hours, using the SonicLink mode, and 30 hours on traditional Bluetooth. They can also be cabled in when the battery dies. Both the headphones and the transmitter can be charged over USB-C.

The AlphaTheta HDJ-F10s cost £369 and are available now. Visit the AlphaTheta website for more information.

Last week, Danish audio company AIAIAI launched their own wireless DJ headphones, the TMA-2 DJ Wireless.
