In March this year, the Bianca Scout released ‘Pattern Damage’, an album of ambient chamber music and slowcore pop excursions. Sharing DNA with the works of fellow Mancunian collaborators Space Afrika, and featuring guest appearances from Mun Sing, NWAKKE, Darkmarik and Marina Zispin, the LP’s 12 tracks unfurl with expressionist brush strokes of emotive vocals, electronics and guitars, and feel as akin to avant-garde film, collage, and contemporary dance as they do music in their experimental approach to worldbuilding and storytelling.
It’s no surprise to learn that Bianca Scout has a background in contemporary and classical dance, and that movement remains a central part of her live performances. She will demonstrate this multidisciplinary approach this Thursday (16th October) at London’s Kings Place. The show is part of the venue’s Luminate series, which runs until the end of the month and will also feature performances from the likes of Forest Swords, Iceboy Violet and Nueen, Coil’s Carl Stone with Jeremiah Chiu and Marta Sofia Honer, and an AD93 label showcase. You can buy tickets to all of the shows here.
In the meantime, Bianca Scout has hand-picked some of her recent favourite releases for our Selections series, spotlighting timeless IDM, emotional ambient soundscapes, “mulchy grungy dirty stuff” and more. Dive in below.
