WARM Introduces Weekly Genre-Based Global Radio Chart Series

Genre-focused insights for global airplay trends mark a change in traditional Top 40 charts.

WARM (World Airplay Radio Monitor), a leading radio airplay monitoring service, has launched a weekly global radio chart series focusing on specific music genres. The initiative marks a departure from traditional Top 40 charts, aiming to provide detailed insights into genre-specific airplay trends. The first chart in the series, the Global Dance Radio Chart, is now live and is based on airplay data from 100 influential dance music radio stations across 30 countries.

The charts, updated every Friday, are calculated using weekly airplay data collected from Friday to Thursday. Subscribers can receive the charts via email at no cost. WARM uses proprietary audio fingerprinting and music recognition technology to monitor over 25,000 radio stations worldwide, including public broadcasting, internet, community, cultural, and local stations.

Jesper Skibsby, Founder and CEO of WARM, highlighted the limitations of conventional radio charts. “Traditional Top 40 charts don’t tell the full story, especially for genre-specific music,” he said. “Our genre-based approach provides clear, actionable insights into specific musical spaces, helping industry professionals identify emerging hits and trends before they reach the mainstream.”

The Global Dance Radio Chart is the first in a planned series of genre-specific charts, with additional genres to be introduced in the coming months. Subscribers are encouraged to provide feedback and suggest new or local radio stations for inclusion in the chart pool.

WARM’s new charts aim to serve the music industry by delivering targeted, transparent, and accessible data. This information is designed to help artists, labels, publishers, and distributors optimise radio promotion, manage campaigns, and secure royalties for airplay.

The chart can also be viewed online every Friday at:

This initiative represents a significant evolution in airplay monitoring, offering a focused perspective on genre-specific radio performance globally. WARM’s tools also allow users to monitor airplay data in real time through a mobile-ready dashboard, providing detailed insights to support music promotion efforts effectively.

By shifting attention from generalised charts to specialised data, WARM’s genre-based charts aim to enhance understanding and accessibility within the music industry.
