Dialled In launches initiative for emerging South Asian creatives with debut conference

Dialled In has launched a new initiative for South Asian talent in creative industries. Dialled Industry's debut conference will take place next month, with an artist residency programme following in March and a mentorship scheme later this year.

Dialled in, which started in 2021 as a London festival by the Daytimers, No ID and Chalo collectives, will host the first Dialled Industry conference on 22nd February at Big Creative Academy in Walthamstow. The conference will cover industry leadership, creative career pathways, professional development and technical training through a series of panels, workshops and presentations from key industry leaders like Raji Rags, Pritt, NAINA, Anu, Balraj Samrai and Diet Paratha's Anita Chibba.

Panels, moderated by Tara Joshi and Thempress, will focus on subjects including a decade of Pxssy Palace, avoiding creative burnout, getting into radio and more. The workshops, organised by D-Lish, G33, Hark1karan, India Bharadwaj, Yushy and others, will offer chances to learn how to DJ, win funding, get started broadcasting and more. Find conference tickets here (free for all, with donation tickets available).

In March, Dialled Industry will be hosting the Resonate artist residency programme for emerging South Asian live musicians and producers. It'll run from the 17th through the 26th at Migration Studios in Brockhampton funded by PRS Foundation and Arts Council England. Applications are open until 15th February — find more information and submit via the application form

Speaking on the launch of the Dialled Industry, co-founder Ahsan-Elahi Shujaat shares, “We've been very fortunate to make it this far, but it would not have been without the guidance and support of our networks and communities, processing the last four years and everything we have achieved, we want to create the new leaders for tomorrow. For too long, many of us have sought help and support from people who have shared our lived experiences and could not find it. We want to offer everything we have learned to those wishing to enter these spaces and give thanks and flowers to those who have helped us get here."

Later in the year, Dialled Industry will expand Dialled In's ongoing mentorship efforts with a new programme geared towards introducing South Asian creatives to key behind-the-scenes roles and supporting them on a sustainable career journey.

2024 saw Dialled In bring its festival to Manchester for the first time, in addition to the annual London edition. For more on Dialled In's evolution over the past four years and its goals for the future, revisit Dialled In co-founders Dhruva Balram's in-depth feature from last October.
