Africa Rising Music Conference is teaming up with AlphaTheta to host two pre-conference roadshows in Nairobi and Durban.
The Nairobi event will take place from 18th-21st February at the venue The Mist. It will take in panel discussions featuring key local industry figures, as well as free DJ workshops hosted by Keyan artists Tina Ardor and DJ Shock.
The Durban roadshow runs across 22nd and 23rd March at KwaZulu-Natal United Music Industry Association (KUMISA). It will also take in panel discussions covering topics such as inclusivity in the music industry, while DJ workshops there will be led by Fundi Mbambani, an ambassador of South African charity Bridges For Music.
The main Africa Rising Music Conference is scheduled to run in Johannesburg from 28th-29th May. This will be the conference's third year, and the 2025 programme will place a particular focus on the UK and South Africa. The full breakdown of events is yet to be announced, but contributions are expected from artists including Lelowhatsgood, Ms Party and Rarri.
In a statement, Lelowhatsgood said: "I'm excited to share my knowledge and pass down the skills I have also been taught to the next generation of up and coming DJs. Sharing not only builds community but ensures the standard is maintained."
Ms Party added: "So you've mastered the basics, now what? This intermediate class is your next step to becoming a true DJ. We'll go beyond the decks and dive deep into developing your unique style. As a member of the LGBTQI+ community, I know firsthand how important it is to stand out and let your talent shine. In this industry, it's your skills that break down barriers and overcome stereotypes. I've spent 14 years crafting my own signature sound, and I'm here to help you find yours. Let's unlock your DJ potential together!"
