No one likes it when an artist has to cancel a show. But luckily, especially in the past year or so, fans have become a lot more understanding cancellations especially as they pertain to health reasons. This past weekend, techno phenom Charlotte de Witte was forced to cancel a show on Saturday at SWG3 in Glasgow, Scotland “due to health circumstances.” She wrote:
“I’m absolutely gutted that I can’t be with you tonight. I’d been looking forward to this show so much!
“My representatives and SWG3 found a new date on 28th February 2020. It would mean the world to me to see you then. I sincerely apologise for letting you down tonight..”
Dear people Glasgow, Due to health circumstances, I won't be able to perform tonight at SWG3.I’m absolutely gutted…

Initial fan response was largely understanding, with many wishing her well and telling her to feel better soon, expressing their disappointment but ultimately accepting the reality. Normally, that would have been the end it, except that she posted a picture on Instagram the following day her in Russia. And this, apparently, led some fans to question just how serious her health circumstances were.

Now, anyone with some rudimentary sleuthing skills would be able to find out that she performed in Moscow on Friday. So to briefly recap the timeline for you: de Witte played in Moscow on the 22nd, informed fans she couldn’t perform in Glasgow that night on the 23rd, and posted the photo from Moscow on the 24th. It’s very simple. However, some couldn’t grasp the basics a calendar and responded on Instagram with comments like:
I had tickets for SWG3 in Glasgow! Thought you were ill?
Thought you weren’t well ya donut
The backlash against the post was severe enough that it prompted de Witte to address the few misinformed dullards.
