A$AP Rocky Found Guilty of Assault

A$AP Rocky has been found guilty assault in a Swedish court. However, the hip hop star will reportedly avoid any more jail time for the crime.

The rapper, real name Rakim Mayers, and two others faced up to two years in prison for assaulting a 19-year-old man, Mustafa Jafari. However, prosecutors only requested six months. The team representing Rocky said he acted in self-defense, because the man had been harassing and following his entourage around Stockholm.

The judges handed down their verdict on Wednesday: Rocky was found guilty assault, but with no additional prison sentence. The judges deemed that “the assault has not been such a serious nature that a prison sentence must be chosen.”

Rocky previously spent about a month in jail leading up to the trial.

Rocky returned to his home in the United States on August 2, before the verdict was issued this week.

The hip hop star has yet to comment on the court result. Stay tuned.
