Aphex Twin’s biggest track used in new public safety ad: WATCH

Aphex Twin's 1999 IDM classic, 'Windowlicker', has appeared in a brand new video campaign for THINK!, the UK government's road safety department.

The clip, entitled 'Pink Kittens', uses a slow-mo edit of the track, the artist's biggest-selling single to date, and footage of a busy South London street in a bid to highlight the dangers of spending 2.3seconds on your phone while driving at 30MPH.

Directed by We Are From LA, the duo were also responsible for the promo for 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams, which was picked up by comedian Adam Buxton for his celebrated Bug events, which showcase the best short film work.

Despite reports to the contrary, this isn't the first time 'Windowlicker' has been used in a commercial, with the tune also used by BMW back in 2003, although untrained ears may not be able to tell, such is the Jekyll and Hyde nature of the piece. We've embedded the new ad, original track, and Beamer spot below so you can see what we mean, and take a look at our list of 10 tracks that inspired techno dame Rebekah for more Aphex business, or this video from the summer in which he showed us his new production process.
