Apple‘s popular wireless earbuds, AirPods nearly doubled in sales to $6 billion this year.
Top analyst and investor, Toni Sacconaghi Bernstein projects that Apple could sell even more — as much as 85 million AirPods in 2020 — and generate $15 billion in revenue. That is, if sales consistently rise in 2020.
In addition, Apple shares are up over 77% in 2019, which has boosted the company’s estimated market cap to $1.2 trillion. At this rate, the product may become Apple’s third largest business by 2021.
Sacconaghi reveals in a new report, sourced by CNBC: “Given AirPods’ extraordinarily steep adoption curve and rapid saturation the iPhone installed base, we see a dramatic deceleration in AirPods revenue growth by 2021 or 22, to single digit growth rates or possibly lower.”
AirPods start at $159, or $249 for the Pro models.
