Avalon Emerson signs to Dead Oceans for new project, Perpetual Emotion Machine, shares single: Listen

Avalon Emerson's new project is called Perpetual Emotion Machine. Watch the video for debut single 'Don't Be Seen With Me' below.

The American DJ and producer is following up her dream pop band Avalon Emerson & The Charm's 2023 self-titled album with her first solo dance release for Indiana-based label Dead Oceans, home to Khruangbin, Phoebe Bridgers and Mitski. Today's new single is a rework of Oppenheimer Analysis' 1982 track of the same name.

The label describes Emerson's Perpetual Emotion Machine "living, evolving" project as "a conduit for human connection on the dance floor" inspired by a range of genres and timeframes. "These songs were created for my DJ sets", Avalon Emerson said in a press statement. "Whether they’re entirely original, edits to recontextualize old favorites, instrumental or feature me singing, they are all part of my perpetual emotion machine. And the machine steams on."

In 2024, Emerson took her 9000 Dreams party on tour of the UK and Europe (more US, UK and European tour dates are set for this year) and contributed to Mister Saturday Night's 15th anniversary cassette box set of rare event recordings. She remixed Fever Ray’s ‘Carbon Dioxide’ in 2023.
