Producer and DJ Delusion has just emerged from a two-year hiatus, and has released a new single. His “Because Of You” featuring Akacia is bold display of talent, and we were hooked by the very first listen.
Delusion joins us to explain more about it in this week’s Behind The Bass.
To kick things off, can you tell us a little about yourself… where are you currently based?
I am temporarily based in Berlin. Otherwise I am still studying in Stuttgart/Germany something called Interaction Design.
How long have you been making music for?
My musical education started with piano lessons when I was a kid which I pursued quite without any ambitions. I started with music production at the age of 16 or 17, I guess. The Delusion project was launched around 3 years ago when I got in touch with different music and artists like Galimatias and Snakehips.
What/who/where inspires you the most creatively?
From a production, composition and sound design point of view, I am really into Medasin, Galimatias or Lido. But I feel like i’m drawing more and more inspiration from art or my surroundings and personal experiences
What are your favourite parts about being an artist? If you could change one thing about it, what would it be?
To be honest, I don’t really see myself as a complete artist. I am still a student who likes to produce and compose music in his free time. I also do not see Delusion as a second identity but as a space where I am able to produce creative output. Furthermore, I can possibly process feelings and experiences in a different way than I would do without this project.
Your new single “Because Of You” has landed, and it’s your first release in a while. Was it one that you instantly felt worked or did you spend a while on it, perfecting it?
