Berlin club Renate to host tech and vinyl flea market raising funds following fire at venue

Berlin club Renate is hosting a tech and vinyl flea market this weekend, raising funds to restore the parts of the venue that were recently damaged in a fire.

The blaze broke out at the Friedrichshain venue in the early hours of Thursday 19th June, and was extinguished in about an hour, with the Renate team saying at the time that “the damage is much less scary than it could have been”. The club has continued to operate in the days since.

Kicking off tomorrow (Saturday, 5th July) at 4PM, the flea market will give DJs and producers the chance to “score their own piece of the iconic Renate booth experience and find some new tunes to spin”, the club’s team said. There will also be special stands of vintage tech equipment available for collectors.

The following day, a bigger flea market will run from midday, featuring club decor, costumes, merchandise, screenprinting, tattoos and more. There will be a special auction at 4PM for some one-of-a-kind pieces of club history, according to Renate.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Renate will no longer be able to operate from its current location after its current lease expires at the end of 2025. The team have confirmed they intend to continue activities at a new location, although no details have been revealed at this time.
