Beto O’Rourke Challenges Biden’s RAVE Act In Groundbreaking Move

Politician Beto O’Rourke is making headlines for his recent drug plan. The bottom line: he seeks to end the stigma and discrimination around substance use.

When asked specifically about the RAVE Act, a question posed by Jeffrey Cook, here’s what he had to say:

We’ve got to remove the stigma around getting help for those who have a substance use disorder. We’ve lost the lives hundreds thousands our fellow Americans over the last decade from drug overdose deaths — opioids being the leading cause.

The current language the RAVE Act has undoubtedly created a dangerous situation in discouraging EDM show/festival organizers from implementing certain safety measures to protect revelers. It’s something that has followed fellow presidential candidate Joe Biden around for nearly the last two decades.

From Beto’s point view, any laws on the books that prevent someone from coming forward for help need to be repealed. Beto’s plan can be read here.

Also, see Amend the RAVE Act, which shares the same stance that “drug policy should not endanger public safety.”
