A few weeks ago the dance music world was taken by storm with Above & Beyond‘s Anjunabeats Riviera Maya getaway festival. It was planned to be everything Fyre Festival wishes it could have been. A tropical island, beaches, all inclusive food and lodging, and course a huge lineup your favorite artists. Now only weeks after the annoucement, Anjunabeats took to their Subreddit to announce that the event has been cancelled.
They recognized that the price was significantly higher than a regular show, and they heard feedback from countless fans (probably on and more) that the packages were way too expensive. Listening to the feedback and considering the planning so far, they decided not to move forward with the idea.
“We heard from some that the price point felt too much a stretch, or that this event felt too exclusive, and were disappointed that this amazing experience wasn’t accessible for more people. All this feedback we have taken to heart. We can only do what we do when we have your support, and you’ve told us loud and clear that we got this one wrong.”
They closed by telling us the dream Anjunabeach is still alive and it’ll happen someday. Until then they will focus on events like ABGT250, which we can all agree was a great event. You can read the full post below.
