The death a 24-year-old man who attended Imagine Music Festival is currently under investigation.
According to reports, Fernando Rodriguez was confronted by police after leaving the event and was tased by multiple ficers leading up to his death. The Georgia Bureau Investigation (GBI) is heading up the case to determine whether force was a contributing factor.
The man was leaving the Atlanta Motor Speedway around 10 pm when someone called to report he had taken his clothes f. According to the GBI, when ficers arrived on scene and approached Rodriguez, he became combative. He continued resisting and that’s when “multiple ficers tased him.”
A spokesperson said: “He did go into medical distress. They attempted to respond to that. He was taken to the hospital and he later died as a result what happened during that incident.”
The GBI is reviewing body cam footage from the incident and conducting an autopsy to determine exact cause death. Testimony from witnesses will also be taken into consideration.
