Demi Lovato Breaks Silence After Overdose: "I Will Keep Fighting"

Demi Lovato has broken her silence after suffering an on July 24.


In an open letter to her fans, family, friends and supporters, she gives her raw and honest thoughts on her struggle with addiction…

“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

She thanks God for keeping her “alive and well.” Her fans for their “love and support.” Her family, team, and staff members who have been “by her side” through this difficult time.

“I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side.”

“I will keep fighting,” she promises in her statement below.

Lovato went to rehab for the first time in 2010 and addiction has been an ongoing battle for her ever since. Recently, the pop star released a song titled “,” in which she details experience with withdrawal and potential relapse.

It is still not clear what substance Lovato took that landed her in the hospital.
