Destructo Talks Spring Awakening & AMF Curated Stage [INTERVIEW]

Spring Awakening is about to take over Chicago with a massive lineup. Gary Richards aka Destructo is joining the party again this year with an AMF curated stage worth obsessing over.

Saturday night, The Function will take on a life its own, with an outstanding AMF-themed lineup featuring Dombresky, Matroda, Dillon Nathaniel, Noizu, Masteria, and Ayoo. The man himself, Destructo will close out The Function, heading up an insane run talent.

There’s obviously many other amazing acts to be seen at Spring Awakening this year — but if we stayed locked at The Function on Saturday, we certainly wouldn’t be mad about it.

This year, you can’t spell SAMF without AMF. Destructo took time out his busy schedule to touch on his AMF takeover and talk about the React-run music festival.

Read below and see the full SAMF schedule here!

How does it feel to be heading up such a killer AMF stage takeover at Spring Awakening?

I love playing in the Chicago area and for the React team. Always solid times at Spring Awakening, been playing this one over the years now. It just gets better and better.

AMF has a shining reputation for booking top-notch talent – What’s the key to curating your events and takeovers like this one?

I always try and give the new producers and DJs coming up the shine. I am always trying to find the next guy or gal on the come up and give them a platform.

Which the artists on the lineup would you say are your closest friends IRL?

Not sure about closest friends but I have solid relationships with people like DJ Snake, Rezz, Griz, Zedd, Galantis, Shiba San, What So Not, Malaa, Dillon Nathaniel. I have been riding with a lot them since the begining.

Favorite part about playing SAMF?

The people who come to this festival are really up for a good time. Seems like everyone is in it to win it together.

Destructo adds…

Come check out some new music on our stage. Dombresky, Matroda, Dillon Nathaniel, Noizu, Masteria plus more. Hopefully you will leave with a new favorite DJ.
