If there’s anyone more invested in the return Skrillex and Diplo supergroup Jack Ü than the fans, it’s probably Diplo himself. The DJ/producer has been talking about or teasing the duo’s return pretty much since it went on hiatus, with the most recent tease coming just this past July.
Now, in a new interview with Rolling Stone as part the publication’s 2020 Grammy preview coverage, Diplo has gotten another chance to tease the group’s return.
You’ve been teasing the return Jack Ü. Is that something we could see soon?
Could be next year. I think Skrillex has a lot material he’s been gearing to release. When that happens I think we might be able to do some new stuff, but I’ve worked on a lot ideas for the project. It’s all in due time. There’s not any rush for it or anything.
Just as Diplo has been teasing Jack Ü, we’ve been hearing about new music from Skrillex from countless sources, yet it just continues to trickle out. Between the two them, it’s hard to believe what’s legitimate and what’s them playing around and feeding into the hype.
As Diplo says, there’s “not any rush for it,” so don’t assume they’re racing to get anything done. But who knows, maybe this time his prediction will come to fruition.
