Disclosure has been hard at work following their one-year hiatus announced in 2017. The successful “Ultimatum” marked their return earlier this year, and two new tracks, “Moonlight” and “Where Angels Fear To Tread” follow.
“Moonlight” is filled with the familiar house rhythm Disclosure is known for, but is matched with a retro 1950’s beat that leaves listeners in a trance. Exploring new production technique and different sounds, the new release showcases a slower tempo and more classic feel that what we’ve previously heard.
“Moonlight was written and arranged at Guy’s house, sampling Swedish acapella group ‘The Real Group’s’ cover the classic ‘When I Fall In Love,'” stated a press release from the duo. “We wanted to bring some Disclosure deep house chords and bass-lines to the forefront…”
“Where Angels Fear To Tread” was released exactly 24 hours later. This song uses another sample from a different popular song from the 1940s, “Fools Rush In.” The song has a more jazzy feel to it with a more pronounced use vocals than “Moonlight,” with a significantly more whimsical vibe.
Brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence are the heart Disclosure and after taking some needed resting time they are back in the studio making magic. The two new singles follow their second album Caracal, released in 2015.
Caracal was packed full chart hitting electro R&B with features from pop legends such as The Weeknd, Sam Smith, and Miguel. The project was a major success but have recently been focused on writing and recording their third studio album, getting back to their roots.
The two new tracks leave us with a taste what’s to come, although no new album has been announced nor any live shows planned in the near future. The duo earlier this year they will not be hosting Wild Life festival in 2018. The event has been held every year since 2015, but fans can plan for a “bigger and better” return in 2019.
