DJ Nobu named Best DJ at inaugural Music Awards Japan

DJ Nobu has won the Best DJ honour at the inaugural Music Awards Japan.

The Chiba-born DJ and producer was present at the ceremony at Kyoto's ROHM Theatre to collect his award. It took place on Wednesday, 21st May.

The late Ryuichi Sakamoto also won an award, with his posthumous album 'Opus', a recording of is final live performance, being  recognised for Best Classical Album.

EDM/J-pop group Wednesday Campanella's track 'Edison' was named Best Dance/Electronic Song at the awards.

Last year DJ Nobu contributed to DJ Mag's On Cue mix series, and spoke to James Gui about the lasting influence of his hardcore punk background, his Omega Point noise project, Future Terror parties, and inspiring the next generation of artists to lead with compassion. Check that out here. here.
