The father an Electric Forest music festival attendee that passed away is reaching out to the community in hopes getting his hands on the last set he listened to. It is believed he was at the Jubilee stage dancing to Bishop Briggs when he suffered from cardiac arrest.
Hunter Lurie, the son to filmmaker Rod Lurie, suffered a medical emergency on festival grounds on Friday, June 29, and died at the hospital in the early morning July 2. Autopsy results have yet to be reported.
“He died dancing,” Rod writes. “There is something to be said for that.”
According to his hand-written schedule, Hunter also checked out or intended to see San Holo, CloZee, Louis the Child and more. He was planning to attend sets from Bassnectar, Herobust, Rezz and more before his festival experience was sadly cut short.

This is a photo my son Hunter. He was the only person 40 thousand to die at Electric Forest this year. It is, course, the singular tragedy our family. Like all you, my twenty-seven year old son adored music. I now see that he was preparing for this festival with his pals as if it were, I dunno, D-Day or something. He died dancing. There is something to be said for that.
I am just doing my best to paint a portrait his last hour. Apparently, he was either close to the stage (or maybe even behind the stage) at Jubilee when Bishop Briggs was playing. (I would love to get her set for the night for my son’s memorial).
