Fire next to Ushuaïa Ibiza destroys two restaurants and unopened venue

A fire broke out next to Ushuaïa Ibiza earlier this week, destroying two restaurants and another bar that was reportedly due to open in the coming days.

A video posted on Tuesday (10th June) by the Instagram account Ibizathings showed footage of a large fire close to the Ibiza superclub, which broke out at 2 AM local time. No casualties were reported.

According to Diario De Ibiza, 60 apartments located above or close to the affected venues had to be evacuated due to the fire, forcing 30 families to leave their homes until morning, when the fire was fully extinguished.

Ushuaïa Ibiza staff helped fight the fire, and were singled out for praise by Sant Josep mayor Vicent Roig for their support. The club's security team "collaborated and helped with the evacuation," he told Noudiari. "Thank God there were no injuries."

Firefighters reportedly contained the fire within an hour of arrival and the cause is now being investigated.

Ushuaïa Ibiza has continued to host its events uninterrupted through this week, with Calvin Harris set to take over the venue today (Friday, 13th June), and ANTS' residency returning to the venue tomorrow (14th June) with sets from Kölsch and Kitty Amor, among others.

Armin van Buuren kicked off his summer residency at Ushuaïa last weekend with a six-hour DJ set.
