A new book will delve into the history of Baltimore club music.
Written by music journalist Al Shipley and published by Repeater Books on 19th August, Tough Breaks tells the story of the iconic dance movement through interviews with DJs, producers, vocalists, party hosts, promoters, and club and label owners.
The book explores the contributions of key figures such as Unruly Records and the late Miss Tony and DJ K-Swift, while producers from the scene break down their classic tracks.
Shipley is a freelance writer and editor for publications including Stereogum, Spin, and the Baltimore City Paper, where he began collating many of the interviews featured in the book.
