HOW TO: Unlock The Hidden Daft Punk Instagram Filter

Instagram fers a variety native filters on its Stories, primarily as a way to compete with the usually more advanced Snaptchat AR filters. (Even though most people I know, at least personally, will use the Snapchat filters, save the videos, and then just post to IG.) But what many don’t know is that Instagram users can upload their own homemade filters, and many them are incredibly detailed and crazy.

One user is @mate_steinforth, who has created an augmented combination the Boba Fett helmet from Star Wars with the LED helmets Daft Punk, among others. The filter is called Daft Empire and it looks awesome. (See below.)

How do you get this filter — or any homemade filter made by a user? Easy.

Just give them a follow.

That’s it, that’s all. Once you follow a user who’s made a specific filter, it will show up in your filters menu at the bottom your Stories — the smiley face sparkle icon. You might have to swipe a bit to find it, but it’s there.

You can do this with any filter you find on Instagram. Happy hunting! Go here to follow @mate_steinforth and access the Daft Empire filter.
