It’s been over a decade since Justice, the duo Xavier De Rosnay and Gaspard Augé, released their debut album ‘Cross’ which also marked the unveiling their now iconic logo. Their version the holy cross has since remained a fixture all their releases. Now Xavier De Rosnay has recently opened up about what it’s like to share the symbol with Jesus.
In an interview with , De Rosnay touched on the inspiration to use the cross symbol and how it’s amazing to think that the cross is synonymous with their music as well as a religion:
“When we were making the record sleeve, we noticed that the ‘T’ was the centre letter ‘Justice’, and that it could be replaced by a cross. We really liked heavy-metal and rock style logo design, and we wanted to design the Justice logo in a similar way. We kept using it in all our artworks, and it just never left. It’s incredible when you think about it because it’s obviously not our logo. It’s Jesus Christ’s logo. It’s kind crazy, the way we managed to take this universal sign and own it a certain manner.”
Sharing the logo with a religion is something De Rosnay seems to be very much aware and he goes on to describe the similarities between religious gathers and Justice live shows. He also expressed how this is evident in their recording process: "The way we make our tracks is to have this kind religious feeling happening."
