Maceo Plex promises a "mashing up of sounds" on his 'fabric 98' mix

Maceo Plex is next in line for the fabric mix series, with the 98th edition due out on April 20.

His input for the iconic compilation series brings together tracks by himself, Pinch, Paradigm Shift and Voiski, in what's described as an "entrancing compilation" combining electro, techno and new wave.

Clocking in at 80 minutes, the American producer said he approached the mix with the aim showcasing his "organic self".

"That required a bit digging and mashing up sounds, but I knew it would be doing the series a great disservice to take the task lightly. 12 years ago I went to Fabric in the wee morning hours after playing a small gig as Mariel Ito and saw Ricardo Villalobos surrounded by a sea bobbing heads in the darkness and a blaringly intense soundsystem.

"I knew that morning I needed to work harder and somehow get to play that room someday. Adding my name to this list respected artists and the rich history the iconic series is special to me and I am glad to be part it."

Anyone expecting something similar to previous Maceo sets have been warned to listen to it with "an open mind".

Maceo will also play all night long at the launch party on April 28.

Last month Maceo . He's also - which he's revived after 12 years - on R&S in May.
