Los Angeles-based DJ and producer Maral has released a new EP, 'Patience (صبر)', through New York label PTP.
Out today (Friday, 4th October), the seven-track release looks back to Maral's early days as a DJ in which she meshed Iranian samples from her heritage into her sets, and also incorporates electronic and punk sounds.
The record's opening cut, 'Patience For An Old Friend', has been over four years in the making and reinterprets the original version of Maral's 2013 track 'Patience'. Other cuts on the EP were created in 2019 and, in the artist's words, "represent a deep angst that always prevails about the word and, in particular, how Iran is treated within the Western imperialist hold on the world".

Last year, Maral shared the track 'setar rock' alongside an animated visual for the song.
Before that, she released the album, 'Ground Groove', in late 2022.
