There’s no doubt that there’s been a changing the guard in commercial dance music the past couple years. Whereas it used to be dominated by titans like David Guetta, Tiesto, and Armin van Buuren, younger acts like The Chainsmokers, Martin Garrix, and Marshmello are now more ten than not securely on top.
With respect to the Hot/Dance Electronic Chart from Billboard, there’s a clear winner: Marshmello. The helmeted producer just recently broke a record for most weeks at the top the list, there for 43 weeks. And now, with the recent release his third album, Joytime III, there’s even more to celebrate.
Of the 50 tracks on the Hot/Dance Electronic chart, Marshmello accounts for 12 them. Of the 13-track album, 10 them charted. At this point, no matter what your feelings on Marshmello are, you can’t deny his rapid and decisive success.
