For the second time in under a month a LeBron mural has been vandalized in Los Angeles. This past week a LeBron mural featuring five Laker legends (Jerry West notwithstanding) was erected. The mural cast LeBron James in an appreciative light and he's looked up at the Lakers' hierarchy: Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain all striking a pose beside famed announcer Chick Hearn.
Something tells me Jerry West gets the wrong the stick from Lakers' fans because the era he played in. Yet is the NBA logo, and helped kickstart the "modern game." I guess it doesn't help that he now works for the rival Clippers, oh well.
But on the topic the defaced mural, the artist is rather surprised a Laker fan would object to his painting, or the transaction itself. "I am surprised," Gustavo Zermeno told . "This is the most positive move for the Lakers in the past five or six years. It is really a surprise that people are upset about LeBron. I don't understand it."
Earlier in the month, Jonas Never's "King LA" mural, the first to appear in Los Angeles, was vandalized with errant spray paint. Vandals wrote "We Don't Want You" and "No King," over the surface the painting. The vandal(s) even scribbled "3-6," in reference to LeBron's win/loss ratio in the NBA Finals.
