Nicki Minaj Sets the Record Straight About Retirement from Music

Nicki Minaj is setting the record straight about her retirement from music.

Back in September, Nicki first expressed her decision to take a step back from her music career to focus on her family life.

At the time, Nicki wrote to her fans in a since deleted tweet: “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”

However, she dropped a song the next month.

In a new interview with Billboard she clarifies a bit more: “I love music and interacting with fans, so I can’t really see taking myself completely away. But I want to be open to other possibilities in my life. I do believe it is important to become a woman outside the magnifying glass. I have to make sure that I’m well-rounded as a human being.”

She also promises she’s not quite done yet — “I’m a perfectionist and love topping myself, so as long as I love music, I’ll always be doing that.”

Nicki Minaj has previously worked with the likes David Guetta, Major Lazer, and more.
