An authorised documentary about the legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard is set to be released next month.
Directed by Sam and Jason Pollard, A Tale of Two Dirtys is due to air at 9PM EST on 25th August, premiering through US TV channel A&E.
First announced in 2022, the filmmakers were given unprecedented access to the artist's parents, his son, Bar-Sun Jones, and wife, Icelene Jones, who at that time was suing Wu-Tang Clan over alleged unpaid royalties dating back decades.
A number of other artists have also contributed to the film, including Wu-Tang Clan members Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, and Mariah Carey. The pop singer featured on Ol' Dirty Bastard's solo track, 'Fantasy', released in 1995.
“I am so happy to have brought this documentary about my husband’s life to the screen.... Like all of hip-hop, I have missed his energy. This project has let me know that he is alive and well in all of our hearts," said Icelene Jones.
Often known simply as ODB, Ol' Dirty Bastard tragically died of accidental drug overdose in 2004, aged-35. An autopsy revealed a mixture of cocaine and the prescription opioid tramadol in his blood prior to his collapse.
