One Charged In Double-Murder of Couple Heading To Festival

A man has been charged with the double-murder a Bay Area couple who were en route to a music festival.


The young couple was reportedly heading to Rolling Loud Bay Area for a fun music festival getaway. Instead, their weekend was met with tragedy, as they were killed on September 28th in East Oakland.

Police first received a call that a car crashed into a house in the area. Once they arrived on scene, police discovered the deceased couple with gun wounds to the head in the same vehicle that lost control and hit the house.

The victims were identified as Ryan Wasilavsky, 20, Dublin and Giovanna “Gigi” Giannini, 20, Daly City. Giannini had just two days until her 21st birthday.

Keith Riley, 36, was identified through surveillance footage and charged with the murders on Tuesday. Alleged special circumstances were listed including “felony murder during the course a robbery” and “multiple murders.”

An exact motive has not yet been determined.
