A-Tweed will release a new EP, ‘Riot Disco Punk’, later this week on Ransom Note sub-label Human Endeavour. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
On the heels of his esoteric debut mini album, ‘Rave The Cave’, released on Playground Records earlier this summer, the Rome-based DJ and producer continues to “colour outside of the lines” with his newest suite of uninhibited electronica. Comprising four cuts, ‘Riot Disco Punk’ – out 18th September – surfs from tripped-out EBM and electro, into zones of disco, tribal techno, and beyond, held together by A-Tweed’s signature low-slung swagger.
Lead single ‘Kabuki Spin’ kicks off the “personal musical riot” with a blast of spectral synths, restless acid pulses and shadowy vocals, ahead of mid cuts ‘Akira Danse!’ and ‘Dusty Rumble Fish’, which are just as playful as their names suggest. Our pick of the bunch, though, is the project’s title track. Loaded with glitching rhythms and sci-tuned beats, ‘Riot Disco Punk’ is leftfield club music at its bleepy, bloopy best.
Landing via Ransom Note sub-label Human Endeavour, the EP follows previous outings for labels including TRESOR, Hard Fist and most recently, Inside Out Records, where A-Tweed released his April EP, ‘Necker Cubism’.
