Houston label Majía was launched by local electronic production duo Santa Muerte in 2016 and has been at the cutting edge of the city’s scene since.
With over 10 releases now under the label’s belt, it has now launched its latest endeavour, the ‘Exhibition’ compilation series, the first of which drops tomorrow (31st July). Featuring tracks by acts both local and otherwise, all proceeds raised from these releases will be donated to different charities.
For Exhibition 001, the selected charity is United We Dream, a Houston-based, youth led non-profit who, most recently, have been working to reunite families at the US-Mexico border in light of recent actions by the Trump administration.
United We Dream describe themselves as the “largest immigrant youth-led community in the country. We (United We Dream) create welcoming spaces for young people – regardless of immigration status – to support, engage, and empower them to make their voice heard and win!”
Ahead of the compilation's release tomorrow, we’re premiering the opening track which comes courtesy of recent Discwoman signee, Chicago’s Ariel Zetina. ‘Chino’ – which you can hear below – is a rattling, frenzied and ferocious banger that launches the release straight into the deep end. A perfect introduction.
More names featured on the compilation include incredible experimental producer M.E.S.H, v1984 (Build) and Paul Marmota to name but a few.
Get your copy of ‘Exhibition’ here from tomorrow 31st July and donate what you can to what is a very deserving cause.
