Baby Weight, aka Cara Eser, is set to release a new single, ‘Expression’, via HE.SHE.THEY. Records. Have an exclusive first listen to the track below.
The UK-inspired heater – landing this Thursday (12th June) – is the latest in a string of 2025 singles from the DJ, producer, and Chub Rub label boss. Crafted from a sample pack created by HE.SHE.THEY. for Pride month, ‘Expression’ is a fierce call-to-arms to the LGBTQ+ community during a period where their rights are being systemically stripped away.
In the way she does best, Baby Weight channels her anger into a heady and percussive club tune, packed with freewheeling synths, chunky drums and rallying vocals samples. ‘Expression’ will also be getting a charged-up remix by Toronto titan Cozmic Cat, set to land on 11th July.
The single’s powerful, political sentiment extends to its artwork – which the Washington, D.C. artist designed herself – and features a collage of LGBTQ+ individuals who have been victims of hate crimes.
“‘Expression’ started as an experiment to push myself out of my comfort zone,” Baby Weight explained. “It evolved into this feral, drum-focused, UK-inspired tune; unapologetic and brimming with self-love.”
“I love working with HE.SHE.THEY. because they encourage me to think outside the box,” she added. “There’s so much pressure to stick to one lane in this industry, but I grew up idolising artists who wore all of their influences on their sleeves. Being part of this label feels like true creative freedom.”
‘Expression’ lands via HE.SHE.THEY. Records on 12th June. Pre-save the single here, and have an exclusive first listen to ‘Expression’ below.
In 2023, Baby Weight debuted on Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried Records with ‘Fear is the Weapon’.
Also that year, the D.C producer released the ‘It’s Giving’ EP via HE.SHE.THEY, collaborated with Karnage Kills on ‘My Heart’, and contributed a track to the Dome of Doom spring compilation.
