Christian AB will release his debut album, ‘The Nu Life’, next month on Ryan Elliott’s Faith Beat imprint. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
Described as encompassing “the sounds [he has] been passionate about for the past decade and a half”, along with some “happy accidents”, the LP distils elements of minimal techno, house, dub and acid into 14 club-ripe cuts. Elegant arps, sensual chords, and deep, locked grooves are in full flow across the release, which follows up a series of excellent EPs from the producer, including last summer’s ‘Red Tears’ for La Nota Del Diablo. ‘The Nu Life’ lands first (4th July) on Christian’s preferred medium of vinyl, ahead of the full digital release on 18th July.
Our pick of the bunch happens to be the title track: an acid-flecked, 90s-styled groover with enough cosmic energy to suspend an entire dancefloor for its duration.
Speaking about the curation of the record, Christian shared: “Combining modern technology with select pieces of older outboard gear has allowed me to craft a distinct and personal colour to my machines... Mainly my modified Studer broadcasting mixer from the ’70s, which I recorded the whole album on.”
‘The Nu Life’ marks the first album release on the Ryan Elliott-helmed label, Faith Beat, following EPs from the likes of Marcel Dettmann, Evan Baggs, Max Watts, and more.
‘The Nu Life’ is out on vinyl from 4th July, and digitally on 18th July. Pre-order the album here, and have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
