Cristina Lazic will release a new EP, ‘L’Amour’, later this week on her La Zic label. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
The four-tracker – out Friday, 21st June – marks the third EP this year from the prolific Italian DJ and producer, and subsumes her trademark blend of deep warm grooves, journeying synth work and minimal textures. Alongside two new original cuts from Lazic, including the deliciously hypnotic title track, the release takes in remixes from Romanian minimal maestro Nu Zau and Spanish duo Los Suruba on the flip.
‘L’Amour’ finds a home on the producer’s fledgling La Zic imprint, founded at the start of 2024 to spotlight minimal, deep tech and melodic house sounds from around the globe. Earlier this month, Lazic announced the expansion of the label to incorporate a new mentoring programme, aimed at equipping aspiring DJs with the branding and communication skills to stand out in the industry. Applications for the April to June course are currently closed, but will re-open in the coming months for future programmes. Find out more here.
Speaking to DJ Mag about Mentorzic, the artist shared: “It has been such an exciting year for me with the launch of La Zic, a music platform comprising a record label, mentoring program and events. My vision is to involve artists making similar music to mine (somewhere between minimal, deep tech and melodic house), empowering unknown talented DJs and doing my part to bring gender equality in the minimal scene.
“Coming from 13+ years in senior marketing roles at companies like Apple and Google, I have realised that DJs often lack those marketing skills that are necessary to be noticed and succeed as artists,” she continued. “This is particularly true nowadays, when so many artists self-release their music. That’s why MentorZic was born... to help aspiring DJs learn the branding and communication skills to build self confidence, build a strategic mindset and develop strong communication skills.”
‘L’Amour’ is out on vinyl and digital via La Zic on 21st June. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
