DOBé will release a new single, ‘Aperture’, featuring Afnan Prince later this week. Have an exclusive first listen to the track below.
On the heels of his recent double-header for Katermukke, Berlin-based DOBé returns with another tear-jerking melodic heater, hoisted to new heights by vocals from Newcastle’s Afnan Prince. Set for release on 16th August – via Nora En Pure’s Purified Records imprint – ‘Aperture’ pairs its radiant stabs and chuggy tech beats with enough cinematic instrumentation to have the dancefloor on strings.
“‘Aperture’ came together so naturally for us, like we had been creating together for years,” shared DOBé on the collaboration. “Dani (Nora En Pure) put us in touch (thanks for playing musical matchmaker!) and from the very beginning, we understood one another’s process, moving in service of what was best for the art.”
He continued: “This feels like the beginning of a beautiful friendship and deeper collaboration, and we are both so excited and grateful for this song to have found a home on Purified.”
The single is the latest in a series of Purified releases in collaboration with Australian underwater photographer Daniel Nicholson and planet-focused platform, OnlyOne. Hoping to shine a spotlight on our oceans and the challenges they are facing, the ‘Aperture’ artwork features a photo of the mighty eagle ray, whose populations are declining due to overfishing, habitat loss, and pollution.
