Premiere: Monki ‘Yurican Soul’

Monki will debut on Hot Creations this month with a new EP, ‘Yurican Soul’.

The London DJ, producer and Dulwich Hamlet footballer follows releases on labels such as Defected, Toolroom, Hottrax and her own &Friends with two brand new, festival-ready cuts of bubbling house music.

You can hear the rolling, acid-tinted title track below, ahead of the full EP’s release on Friday, 9th April. The B-side, ‘Ring Ring’, features vocals from Detroit poet, spoken word artist, filmmaker, singer and performer Queen Rose, who brings a playful, Chicago house flair to the EP.

''Hot Creations has been a label I've admired for years,” says Monki of the release. “‘Yurican Soul’ was inspired by one of my heroes Louis Vega and the old school sound of New York. ‘Ring Ring’ was an idea from the studio that was really driven by the bassline until Queen Rose jumped on and brought it to life; with her naughty, yet poetic take to the vocal.''

‘Yurican Soul’ will be available to buy and stream from tomorrow, 9th April, via this link. Meanwhile, have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
