Reece Spooner will release his debut solo EP, ‘ClubPop Vol. 1’ this month. Listen to ‘Hoxton Skank’ below.
The London DJ, producer and Fiasco! party co-founder follows appearances on compilations by labels including Stamp The Wax, Super Drama Records and Borne Fruits with four tracks that joyfully fuse heady club beats with irresistible pop hooks.
With the high-energy pulses of Jersey and Baltimore Club music, house and techno, rowdy basslines and fairground sugar-rush melodies, this EP is dancefloor-tuned from start to finish, with Spooner’s own vocals bringing a joyful pop sensibility that’s impossible to resist. It captures the fun, playful energy of the Fiasco! parties, which developed its unique, ‘90s gossip mag-inspired aesthetic in beloved queer club Dalston Superstore before recently hosting events in Pickle Factory and Venue MOT.
‘Hoxton Skank’ ends the EP with a Jersey Club/house/grime crossover where Spooner’s wordless chants, a sizzly synth lead and a Basement Jaxxy bassline bounce gleefully on galloping percussion. Put simply, it’s a big vibe.
'ClubPop Vol.1' will be released on 10th October. Pre-order it here.
