Alexander Robotnick’s Hot Elephant Music label is set to release a new compilation later this week, ‘Indian TechXpress 2’. Have an exclusive first listen to Shrii’s contribution, ‘Sidelines’, below.
Landing this Friday (16th May), the 12-track V/A spotlights ambitious club sounds from artists across the Indian subcontinent, including deep, dubby house from 5volts, shimmering sitar sounds à la Hedrun and Sikander, twisted techno from ToneFabrik, and much more.
The project takes particular inspiration from the 2023 Chandrayaan-3 space mission, which saw India become the first nation to successfully land a spacecraft in the lunar south pole region. The landmark mission marked the end of Western dominance in the field of space exploration, and inspired the “multicultural spirit” of ‘Indian TechXpress 2’, which is described as a sonic “celebration of the beginning of a multipolar world where the precious variety of world cultures is not levelled by globalisation.”
Shrii’s impassioned house heater, ‘Sidelines’, is an early standout, delivering extraterrestrial synths and charged-up grooves, alongside Bollywood-esque vocals from the Hyderabad-based producer.
‘Indian TechXpress 2’ lands on 16th May via Hot Elephant Music. Have an exclusive first listen to Shrii’s track ‘Sidelines’ below.
In 2016, Mumbai native DJ Chetas made history by becoming the first Indian DJ to break into DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll.
Other recent releases on Hot Elephant Music include label boss Alexander Robotnick and Stefano Cocco Cantini’s ‘Robocok’ EP, and Hybrid Protokol’s ambient six-tracker, ‘Samsara’.
