UFO95 will debut on Tresor Records this week with a new six-track EP, ‘Backward Improvement’. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Wallon’ below.
Maintaining the intergalactic techno thrust of previous projects – including January’s ‘ARC02’ two-tracker and his ‘PLANÆT’ EP for Reykjavík’s Planet X – the Parisian producer serves up six more cuts of pared-back tackle that draw on core elements of the techno genre.
Crafted from systematic loops and tense, instinctual rhythms, and sewn together with the spontaneous energy of his club sets – which are always performed live – ‘Backward Improvement’ flaunts UFO95’s affinity for stripped-down club music. ‘Wallon’ is the EP’s standout track: a dark, industrial heater, with a tough metallic beat and sonorous synth lead.
Accompanying the EP launch is a teaser clip, which UFO95 describes as “a little extract of the full A/V live we are working on with visual artist Lei. The focus is on minimalist, textured and abstract synced algorithm noises.”
Last year, UFO95 founded his own label, ARCHIVE, as a home for his minimalist jams. He christened the imprint with the release of June’s ‘ARC01’ EP.
Catch the French producer performing live at Paris’ Rex Club this weekend alongside Vel, Ombrar (Live), and Aodh. Tickets are still available here.
‘Backward Improvement’ is out 8th March via Tresor. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to ‘Wallon’ below.
