The vape-related death total has jumped to 16 nationwide.

Multiple reports are coming in today, the most recent confirmed cases out Virginia and New Jersey. The one out Virginia happened within the past week and the New Jersey death took place back in August.

The other deaths related to lung illness have been confirmed in the following states: two in California, two in Kansas, two in Oregon, and one each in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Nebraska.

Early investigation into the lung injury outbreak points to vaping THC products in most cases, rather than nicotine. This new development was reported yesterday by the CHC.

Via the Metro Times, “Of the patients who reported what product they vaped, only 16% said they only used nicotine. But health ficials say that number is likely lower because people are reluctant to admit using cannabis.”

As last week, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed 805 likely cases lung injury as a result e-cigarette use. The epidemic has spread 46 states and to the US Virgin Islands.
