Australia’s very own electronic dream-pop group, , return to the spotlight with their latest wholesome single, Magic Eye, featuring Sui Zhen.
The East Coast based group, comprised Tori Holleman, Marco Vella, Matt Crowley, who split their time between Melbourne and Sydney, return to their outstanding best for the 2nd time in 2018. Having previously released the melancholic jam, Pumice Stone in June, the trio have consolidated a busy spell in the studio with Magic Eye.
Their latest release has been described as a love song that signifies the end a relationship.
“We started writing the song before a break up and finished it after it ended. It’s a strange time to write a song. I feel like from the start, the tone the song was kind indicative the situation.”
Magic Eye begins with a synth-laden intro, paired with a soothing guitar riff that sets the tone the joint. The trio along with Becky (Sui Zhen), who share songwriting duties, have created a mellow but enchanting vocal symphony, reminiscent an early release by The Drums, albeit slightly more down-tempo. This new jam is alluring and familiar, while providing a sonic warmth due to it’s careful production.
In more news that will excite fans Retiree, the band are set to release their highly anticipated debut album House or Home on 21st September the imprint. Their debut explores the concept ‘house or home’ and it’s implications for different people throughout Australia. They journey from an Aboriginal tent embassy in New South Wales, to a retirement village and a one room flat in Ringwood to tell their story.
