It seems like RÜFÜS DU SOL may be going in a darker direction for their new album. The dance trio released the third single from their upcoming third album Solace yesterday, titled “Lost in My Mind.” The single comes with all the usual RÜFÜS hallmarks, but with a darker twist.
As usual, frontman Tyrone Lindqvist delivers emotive vocals tinged with a hint heartbreak. However, the production provides a notably darker mood. High pitched synths and a distorted background vocal give a more tragic weight to the lyrics. , the trio wrote the track during a trip to the Joshua Tree National Park in California.
The darker twist follows the generally downbeat theme established by previous single “Underwater.” “No Place,” the first single from Solace, hinted at the incoming shift in mood, but still retained the trio’s typical upbeat vibe. Solace is scheduled to release later this fall, so we’re curious if the group releases any additional singles.
