Ruiner follows closely on the heels of OSS, Song Athletics’ debut plugin, which was released earlier this year.
Ruiner offers a versatile toolkit for signal destruction, allowing for creative sound manipulation through eight distinct effects:
- Stutter: A beat repeater with a dial that adjusts both the probability and rate of the repeat.
- Granular: Custom grain manipulation, with increasing complexity controlled via the dial.
- Compress: A punchy compressor where the dial sets the threshold.
- Bit Crush: Stepped bit depth control, moving from 16 bits down to 8 bits.
- Harmonic Distortion: Combines dry/wet mix and drive, adjustable through the dial.
- Overdrive: Adjusts the amount of modeled diode clipping via the dial.
- Tape: Blends dry/wet with options for tape degradation, all controlled by the dial.
- Static: Introduces a combination of static noises, including analog circuit noise and vinyl surface noise.
The Mix Control allows precise blending of the original and processed signals, making RUINER a powerful tool for creative sound destruction.
Ruiner is available as a VST3/AU and runs on Windows 10/11 and MacOS 10.11 (or later). It also supports Intel Macs. The full download size is 194 MB uncompressed and was engineered by John Howes, aka Cong Burn.
Ruiner is out now priced at £20. Find out more on Song Athletics website.
