A new study from the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) at the University New South Wales in Sydney has found that nearly half people who take ecstasy use testing kits — and much more.
Of the people who reported regular ecstasy intake, 68% had attended a music festival within the past year. In addition, 93% people who used ecstasy within the past six months and also attended a music festival, had used illicit drugs at the last festival they attended.
Another study from the Ecstasy and Related Drugs Reporting System (EDRS) found over two thirds Australians were using substances including cocaine and ketamine.
Seven in 10 EDRS participants, or 68%, had attended a music festival in the past year. Approximately 97% attendees had use alcohol or drugs at the last festival they attended and 93% reported they used illicit drugs.
Nine in 10 people, or 87%, who attended a music festival were aware on-site medical services. Only one in three, or 36%, were aware drug informations services or harm reduction at music festivals.
