A man has been arrested in connection to the assault of a woman at a recent Rüfüs Du Sol concert in Los Angeles.
The woman said in a statement shared to Instagram last week that her friend accidentally spilt a drink on a man at the Australian trio's show at the Rose Bowl venue. She said the man later “punched me in the face, knocking me out and causing significant bleeding, while he continued attacking our group.”
In a separate clip, shared by festival news platform Festival Owl, a man can be seen knocking a woman to the ground before repeatedly punching her while other attendees attempted to pull him back.
Last Thursday, the Pasadena Police Department issued an update on the incident, saying: “On 16th August, 2025, at approximately 8:30 PM, officers responded to a report of an assault in one of the seating areas of the Rose Bowl Stadium during a music concert. The investigation revealed that three victims were assaulted to varying degrees by a male suspect who reportedly became agitated after a drink was spilled,” per the LA Times.
They also named the alleged suspect, saying: “With the assistance of video footage and numerous tips from the public, Pasadena Police Department detectives were able to identify the suspect. On 21st August 2025, Pasadena police personnel arrested 23-year-old Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala in Hawthorne, CA. Formal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.”
In the wake of the incident, Rüfüs Du Sol took to their Instagram stories write: “Delivering moments to our fans to gather and celebrate safely is what we live for. We have been heart broken to hear of the act of violence that took place during the opening act on Saturday.”
“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable anywhere, and the fact that this happened at one of our shows was devastating to learn about."
Criminal charges are expected to be filed and the victim reportedly intends on filing a civil suit. “I’m going to make this man pay for what he did to me and my friends,” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone who reached out to me.”
